We have always felt it important to develop a trusting relationship with our customers. For those of you who will now be shopping online with us, we thought hearing a bit from our customers, vendors, and industry designers might help you get to know who we are and hopefully, develop that same relationship. |
Ordering yarn from the US always feels costly and a bit risky to us here in the UK. It can take ages to come, the exchange rate doesn’t favour us and our import taxes are heavy – so I always think twice! However my buying experience with Knitting Central was so good. I received a friendly contact by email very promptly (on a Sunday!) and was kept informed of when the yarn shipped. My package arrived within a week, beautifully packaged and correctly addressed. The yarn is perfect – just what I wanted. I have already placed a second order. It is great to find a friendly, knowledgeable reliable seller from so far away!! Ruth Griffiths, Hertfordshire, England
"For any of my projects whether it be knitting, weaving, coil basketry, or whatever else strikes my fiber fancy, Knitting Central is to me what a toy store is to a child, water to a fish or the sky to a bird. It's pure heaven. The colors are inspiring, the textures luscious and palpable. Everything in the store is a trigger point to my creative senses. The staff is knowledgeable, creative, warm and so accessible to novices and advanced knitters. The classes are top quality and I have met some fantastic people. Cynthia is my inspiration, my fiber and color guru. Thank you! Why shop anywhere else!"
"In my opinion, Knitting Central is simply a crafter's dream come true!. When you enter the store and close the door behind, you feel a little like Lewis Carroll's Alice. It is as if you have entered a parallel universe. Immediately the creative juices start to flow. There before your eyes are the most wonderful and intriguing array of fibers and textures lining the walls. The visual stimulation also includes beautiful samples of garments on mannequins and lovely hand crafted accessories and books carefully placed all around the store. It would be impossible not to want to stay a while to touch and explore all that you are surrounded by in this inviting and serene atmosphere. Owners Cynthia and Rick Crescenzo literally "shop the world" in search of the most beautiful fibers and hand crafted items from both the most established names in the yarn and craft accessories industries and from small artisans as well. As a result of this tireless effort, they very successfully provide one of the most unique shopping and learning experiences for their customers. Some of the unique one-of-a-kind items that they offer include: hand blown glass shawl pins, and crochet hooks, beautiful hand made silver stitch markers, custom made craft travel bags that are both beautiful and sturdy enough to double as real overnight or carry-on bags. These are just a few of their unique small artisan offerings. Their attention to the needs of their customers is also reflected in their full blown educational program. They seek to enhance the customer's understanding of many different types of crafts by offering each season, a broad spectrum of classes ranging form every discipline of knitting (Color, Lace, Cables, Design, etc.), to Crochet and Weaving, and the class list goes on. As with all aspects of their business, they are very diligent about the quality of the classes that they offer and actively seek out and bring in noted professionals working in each industry that the classes are offered for. Their customers get a chance to really learn from the experts. As a result of their customer care philosophy, Knitting Central has a very loyal customer base that is well deserved. I am so happy that this unique shopping experience will now be available to hand crafters seeking a unique shopping experience worldwide. I am sure that the same in-store dedication to customer care and service will be a part of every online shopping experience. Even though the online customers will be lucky enough to be able to turn on their computers and have the fun of entering the wonderful world of Knitting Central, I suggest that if they ever plan to visit the Westport, Connecticut area, they owe themselves the treat of stopping in to enjoy this unique store first hand. It is truly a one-of-a-kind shop." Shirley Paden
"Knitting Central is the place for all my knitting needs. It's a jewel-box boutique full of eye-candy delights that inspire me to express my creativity through knitting! Here's why Knitting Central is tops on my list: (1) terrific people -- your knowledgeable, friendly staff -- all expert knitters themselves -- always make me feel so welcome; they're happy to take the time to help me figure out a new technique or pattern, and to recommend the perfect yarn for a cool new pattern; (2) gorgeous yarns -- a truly fabulous assortment of silk, alpaca, cashmere, qiviut, premium wools in every colorway -- what a feast for the eyes!; (3) a great collection of stylish new patterns and books; and (4) classes and private lessons -- for all levels, with world-class instructors! What a great place to meet other knitters, new and experienced, and to discover brand new treasures -- yarns, beads, needles, etc., to add to my stash! If you knit -- or want to learn -- you'll find it all at Knitting Central!"
"Cynthia has a very savvy style sense, and her specialty is putting together color and patterns that look elegant and sophisticated. She has an incredible eye--just visit her Westport yarn store to see all the yarn and accessories arranged just "so" to make you feel like you are in the most beautiful one-of-a-kind boutique. You won't go wrong letting her put together your online knitting purchases. I'm delighted that she will be offering that unique shopping experience online, and making it accessible to everyone around the country (world?)."
"Our family has followed Cynthia from New York all the way to Connecticut and we live in Virginia! She taught my daughter to knit at the beginning (2003) after multiple surgeries for a brain tumor. That renewed my interest from previously learning to knit as a youth. Why do we go to a shop in Westport, Ct? The warm helpful attitude from the moment you walk in the door that originally hooked us, is now in Knitting Central, located in Westport . Cynthia has an eye for putting yarns together that you would not think of using together. What a selection! When we cannot get to Knitting Central, the website helps to fill our needs and when I hit a stumbling block, Cynthia is always there to help by phone. After my last visit to the shop of course I had forgotten a few things, and they were shipped the day I called. Thanks for putting me on to the 'rosewood circulars'". |
